The personal information portal has evolved into an enterprise knowledge portal (Silver, 2000) One highly successful portal is Cisco s Employee Connection The portal provides anytime, anywhere access to the company s intranet; it has been credited with helping save the company $551 million, thanks primarily to improved selfservice (Anderson, 2002) The intent of the system is to connect as many systems and applications as possible so that the user has a single entree into all of Cisco s information systems (Anderson, 2002)..
